Finding ways to earn extra money can help you to pay down debt, save money or meet your financial goals. For me supplemental income is a way to pay off my old student loans, eliminate my mortgage payments and achieve financial freedom. Supplemental income helps us reach financial goals that may otherwise be very difficult or impossible to reach.
I’ve chosen to make money online through blogging, writing, social media and marketing. This blog is just one of the few streams of supplemental income I’m using to help me reach my goals. I’ve listed out some great ways to make extra money.
1. Blogging
I make money blogging and I’ve written a lot on how to start a blog, what to blog about and how to make money blogging. If you are interested in making a online business out of a blog I suggest that you read a few of my posts first to help you get started. You don’t have to have a blog to make money online but I think it’s the best way to start out.
2. Start a website
If blogging isn’t your thing but you still want to make money online then consider starting a website that sells a product or service. You can also consider creating a content based website and giving the content away for free. People love free and you get paid to run ads on your site. Use the methods I listed in how to make money blogging to learn how to make money from a content based website.
3. Twitter
Making money with Twitter isn’t hard to do, you just need to get a lot of followers. I have more than one Twitter account, which makes it easier to make money. I also use my Twitter account(s) to promote my blogs and websites. I use Hummingbird to get followers and I use socialoomph to send them automated followup messages that promote products that can help them have a better Twitter experience. Both of those products cost money, but after my small investment I’ve started to make $300 per month with Twitter. It’s not much but it adds up with all the other online work I do. 4. Write for InfoBarrel
InfoBarrel allows you put your adsense and chitika publisher code into the articles you write. You earn 75% of the revenue each article you write generates. In many cases it’s better to write for infoBarrel than to write on your own blog or website. They have great page rank and authority with Google. Best of all you aren’t limited to one topic because you can write on any subject.
5. Write for ehow
I’ve just started to write how to articles for ehow. ehow shares the money they make from the ads that appear on their site where your article is posted. Since I’m still new at it I’ll just reference this ehow article that I used to get started. It should have everything that you need to know: How to write an ehow article
6. Get paid to drive
Yep, you can get paid to drive your car. Up to $500 a month in fact. You’ll have to put an advertisement on your car that could be anything from a bumper sticker to a full car ad. Some people are understandably unwilling to put a ad on their car but for those who are and want to get paid checkout these two websites:
Free Car Connection
Paid To Ride
7. Start your own business
Starting a business usually requires you to have some money up front to get started. Some people have the cash and some borrow it. That’s why I like making money online. If any money is needed to get started, it’s usually much less. If your goal is just to make supplemental income then try to start by thinking small. I’d start by thinking of a job I could do with the skills and abilities I have now like a lawn services business, teaching, tutoring, house cleaning, or odd jobs. Whatever you could do that would earn you $500 or more per month would make a huge difference in paying off debt or meeting your financial goals.
8. Take a part time job
If none of the ideas I’ve listed work for you then consider taking a part time job to earn extra money during nights or weekends. You can look in your local newspaper or an online search engine: Find A Job.
