Faithful Finances – Time & Priorities

0

Part of being financially faithful means being responsible with our time. We can identify our priorities by looking at where we spend our time. We might say that our children or our family is priority number one, but if our time doesn’t match our talk we are just blowing hot air.

A lot of us struggle with this concept. We think that if we are out there hustling for the almighty dollar we are spending our time wisely. It’s true that we need money to eat and provide for our needs. It’s not true that money will buy us happiness or fill the void of an absent parent. Money can never replace quality time.

If I wanted to, I could sit behind this computer and work 18 hours a day. I have lot’s of small projects that will earn us supplemental income. I’m very motivated and ambitious about building extra income to help support my family. Those things are important, but they are not the most important to me.

My priorities are God, Family, Work, Charity – In that order. I have to make sure that first things come first and I don’t get carried away with my latest project. Balance is a key factor in our overall health. Our health is a key factor in our financial wellness. Let’s keep track of where we spend our time and make sure we are investing it in the things that matter most.
